What is 5W30 oil?
The ideal engine oil for your car is the one that works perfectly at low temperatures and as well as at high temperatures
5W30 motor oil is widely used in diesel and petrol engines.
The alphabet “W” stands for winter and not weight as considered by many
It means the lowest temperature at 0 degrees Fahrenheit (-17.8 degree Celsius)
The number “5” before “W” is the viscosity (lower the viscosity, less thick the oil will be)
“5W’ means the viscosity of the oil will be 5 when the temperature is as cold as -17.8 degree Celsius
Lesser the number before “W”, lesser the oil thickening
Eg. “0W” will be less thick at the given cold temperature
The number 30 is the viscosity at higher temperature i.e at 212 degrees Fahrenheit (100 degree Celsius)
The lesser the number, the less thick the oil will be at higher temperature.
Oil with less thickness is the most suitable for smooth running of the engine
When should I use 5W30 oil?
We suggest you to use the oil which best suitable for your car, however 5W30 oils can function in temperatures as low as -30 degree Celsius and as high as 35 degree Celsius
